The Recruitment Process

So you have decided to apply for a position with Thistle Care Ltd. What Happens next? 

Our Recruitment manager Paul will be in touch, you would have already completed an application contact form listing basic information such as how many hours you want to work each week, and Paul will contact you and have an informal chat about your application. We understand that this might be a completely new career for some people and that they would have lots of questions to ask, Paul is more than prepared to take his time with you and answer any questions that you may have. This initial process is called the telephone screening.

You will have electronic links sent to your email address asking you to complete the application form, sign the job description and complete an accurate account of your previous employment history. There will also be a link to the Disclosure and Barring Service, as we work with vulnerable adults you will require an enhanced DBS check, please see DBS Check below for more information. As soon as you have completed and submitted your forms, Paul will contact you again to complete a formal interview over the phone. The outcome of that interview will be decided that day and you will be informed as to whether you have been successful.

How do I decide how many hours to work?

As a guide this is how shifts work at Thistle Care

Morning/ AM  0700 hrs - 1400 hrs  Evening/ PM 1600 hrs - 2230 hrs

Your rota may contain long shifts AM & PM  or short shifts AM or PM this is completely dependent on how many hours you are looking for per week. You will be required to work weekends.

Disclosure and Barring Service and  ID Validation

As Thistle Care Ltd provides its services to vulnerable adults Thistle Care Ltd. has to validate your ID and send away for a Disclosure an Barring Service check, there will be a link sent to you and you must accurately complete all the information required. The DBS check cannot be completed until your ID has been checked, and you will receive a list of accepted documents to complete this. DBS checks can take quite a while to complete so the sooner your ID is validated the sooner the DBS check will start.

References

You will have to provide at least two referees ideally 1 x previous employer and 1x Character reference. If you have worked in Health and Social Care before you must list all previous Health and Social Care Employers. As our reference requests are electronic referees must have a valid email address.

Once Thistle Care Ltd has received all your application forms, references and  DBS check you are then able to move forward onto induction
